During the third quarter of 2022, the News and Magazines category on the Android platform in South America showcased diverse trends in terms of downloads and active user engagement. Here’s a closer look at the performance of the top 5 apps in this category.

Opera News: breaking & local experienced a steady performance with weekly downloads fluctuating between approximately 84K and 126K. The highest download count was seen in the week of August 1, reaching around 126K. Active users showed minor variations, maintaining a range of about 482K to 512K throughout the quarter.

Local News - Latest & Smart saw a significant peak in downloads at the beginning of August with around 39.7K downloads. However, the numbers declined towards the end of the quarter, dropping to about 10.2K by the last week of September. Active users followed a similar trend, peaking at around 179K in early August and then reducing to approximately 132K towards the end of September.

G1 Portal de Notícias da Globo demonstrated a remarkable surge in weekly downloads, especially in the last week of September, achieving around 157K downloads. Active users saw a notable increase as well, climbing to approximately 1.1M in the final week of the quarter.
